About Houston

HIC | Houston Investment Corner

The city of Houston is the largest city in Texas and the 4th largest city in the United States. According to the last census in 2010, the metropolitan population is 6.3 million strong. Houston is located in Harris County – the third most populated county in the United States and the most diverse population for any city in the United States.

Located on the Gulf of Mexico and in close proximity to Mexico, Central and South America, Houston is home to the 5th largest port in the world. This industry will only continue to grow due to the expansion of the Panama Canal, which is near completion.

While the oil industry is a key element to Houston’s economic component, it no longer dominates like it did in the past.  Other industries that factor in a major way in Houston are medical (largest medical complex in the world), computers, cutting edge technologies, construction, international trade and of course, NASA.

The prediction for the growth of Houston is by 2020 an additional 1 million people will move here. Read More.
